The Dodgers started the 2009 season with a flip-flop win over the Forest City Barons.  In the 1st inning, the Dodgers left 2 men on base and the Barons made them pay in the bottom half of the inning with Brandon Field's mammoth 2-run home run.  The 2nd inning was a repeat of the 1st as the Dodgers left 2 more men on.  However, the bats came alive in the 3rd inning when the Dodgers scored 5 runs thanks to doubles from Justin Hornblower and Jason Cheese and singles from Jeff Reid and Chris Marriott.  The Barons answered back with 4 runs in the bottom half.  With the score at 6-5 for the Barons, Justin Hornblower showed that he is after the Silver Slugger award with a home run to centrefield to tie the game.  Chris Marriott singled and scored on Dave Jansen's single.  Two more runs followed in the 5th inning for both teams to bring the score to 9-8.  The 2 runs scored in the 6th by the Dodgers were inconsequential as the impending thunderstorm finally hit and the game was called.

The Dodgers loss their second game of the season, the final score 4-2 for Byron.  The Dodgers left the bases loaded in the top of the 1st inning.  Luckily, the Byron team was unable to capitalize in their bottom half after Ryan Leavitt gunned out a runner trying for 3rd.  Byron quickly scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd after a massive 3 run shot.  The Dodgers were unable to get a hit until the 5th inning and scored their first run in the 6th to bring the score to 3-1.  Wes Watson doubled in the 8th, was moved to 3rd on a sac bunt by Kurt Hill and scored on a passed ball to bring the Dodgers within one.  Byron added another run in their half of the 8th to bring the final to 4-2.  Both Dodger pitchers, Justin Hornblower and Jason Cheese pitched well striking out 7 and 5 batters respectively.

A brutal start to a brutal game.  The Dodgers were beat by the visiting Byron Seniors 5-2.  The game was a lackluster affair with Byron taking the early lead in the 1st inning and adding a second run in the 2nd inning.  The Dodgers answered back in the bottom of the 2nd with two runs of their own but that was all the offense the Dodgers could muster.  Justin Hornblower and Kevin Oatman combined to strike out 14 Byron batters but the Dodgers were unable to push baserunners across the plate.

The Dodgers slipped below .500 with a 13-10 loss to the Middlesex County Brewers.  The left field lights proved hazardous for the outfielders as many balls were lost in the night sky and fell in for base hits.  The Dodgers started well, scoring 3 runs in the 1st inning and 1 in the 3rd but gave up 4 runs by the bottom of the 3rd inning.  The Brewers continued to tack on multiple runs each inning as the Dodgers defense lagged.  The Dodgers made it close in the 8th inning as a relief pitcher walked four straight batters.

A heartbreaking loss for the Dodgers last night as Byron won walk-off style 6-5.  The game started well for the Dodgers with Chris Marriott scoring in the 1st inning but the Dodgers left the bases loaded to end their half.  Byron scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st from 2 hits and 2 errors.  Both teams scored again in the 3rd inning making the score 4-2 for Byron.  The Dodgers started to chip away in the 6th inning, scoring one but again leaving the bases loaded.  In the 8th inning 2 runs were scored to give the Dodgers a 5-4 lead.  Byron tied it up in the bottom of the 8th.  In the final at-bat, the Dodgers were able to get a man in scoring position but were unable to score him.  Byron singled to start the bottom of the 9th and the runner advanced on a sac bunt.  The next batter singled to place the winning run at 3rd base.  The winning run was scored with a shot to centrefield.

Another loss for the Dodgers as the 1st place Mitchell Astros defeated the team by a score of 11-1.  The score was not a reflection of the hard fought game.  The Astros scored a run in the 1st inning but were kept off the board until the 5th when they were able to score three more.  The Dodgers were working some solid defense, catching a runner trying to steal second and turning a nice 6-4-3 double play.  However, the Astros scored 7 runs in the 8th inning all with 2 out.  The Dodgers were able to get on the score sheet in the 8th inning after Brian Rooke single, reached 2nd on a passed ball and scored from a Justin Hornblower single.
